Help Radical Empathy put our interactive story in a web browser! Our first milestone will let us give this amazing experience to anyone with access to the internet!

The ONLY way to end human trafficking is through prevention education.

Our award-winning virtual reality experience gives people a new perspective and raises empathy for victims through an immersive, interactive story like none other.

In 2017, we released the FIRST interactive VR experience that allows you to learn how a child can be psychologically manipulated by taking advantage of their vulnerabilities.

“TRAPPED: A VR Detective Story” teaches you how anyone could be tricked into becoming a victim against their will, through an unforgettable story with learning objectives woven into every line of dialogue. And it does it in only 15 minutes.

It has already trained over 6000 public school students, parents, professionals, and medical university students, and is being used by licensees in California, Texas, Montana, Illinois, Idaho, and Wyoming.

This interactive experience is truly impactful, but there’s one HUGE problem. You have to have a virtual reality headset to experience it.

This is where YOU come in.

We want every schoolchild to have the opportunity to freely use this amazing tool, so we are making this interactive education experience available to the WORLD through a WEB BROWSER.

TRAPPED: An Online Detective Story uses the same core “story,” but users are given curated contextual information that matches up with the story experience. In VR, you encounter a cell phone and Lisa explains how she can’t call the police for help because her trafficker has threatened to hurt her family and friends. Immersion is vital in VR, so we let you stay “in” the story. This builds empathy for victims. But in the online experience, you can “go deeper.” You have immediate access to videos and blogs from survivors who explain exactly what it means to have a cell phone with them. Each interactive object has multiple educational journeys to explore. You have more information with more depth brought to you in the way that people learn: at the point they are interested in the material.

Testimonial from a parent and attendee of the VIDA Educational Design Conference

“ This would be amazing for students to see because it would give them valuable info on what signs to be aware of to keep them and their friends safe.

Adults must see this because it needs to be a focus for them to keep their children and the children with whom they interact safe. What a powerful experience!

Please share this with as many people as possible. ”

Student, Texas Association of Student Councils Annual Conference

“ It is a great way for adults to “hear” directly what happened from a student’s perspective. I believe it would open the eyes of adults and foster compassion, empathy, as well as drive more adults to be changemakers. ”
